Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dan untuk mengetahui kesulitan dan kesalahan siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah komunikasi matematis siswa yang diberi pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan Pembelajaran Matematika Realistik (PMR) terhadap materi pecahan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah studi kasus deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas V Sekolah Dasar Swasta Medan Markus yang berjumlah 40 orang, kemudian subjek dianalisis secara kualitatif dari segi indikator kemampuan (tinggi, sedang dan rendah), aspek kesalahan dan aspek jawaban kosong. Instrumen penelitian terdiri dari: Tes keterampilan komunikasi matematis dan lembar panduan wawancara. Teknik analisis data meliputi pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebelum menggunakan PMR kemampuan komunikasi matematik siswa masih tergolong rendah yakni sebesar 20% dari keseluruhan siswa. Setelah menggunakan PMR diperoleh data bahwa: (1) kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dengan pengelompokan kemampuan tinggi dapat dikategorikan baik dengan persentase 50% dari jumlah siswa; (2) kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dengan pengelompokan kemampuan sedang dapat dikategorikan baik dengan persentase 33% dari jumlah siswa; dan (3) kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dengan pengelompokan kemampuan rendah dapat dikategorikan kurang baik dengan persentase 17% dari jumlah siswa. Kesulitan dan kesalahan siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah komunikasi matematis siswa dalam penerapan PMR terlihat pada kemampuan siswa subjek rendah. Pada indikator pertama, subjek tidak mampu menjelaskan idea atau situasi dari suatu gambar atau grafik yang dijelaskan dengan kata-kata sendiri dalam bentuk tulisan. Pada indikator kedua, subjek tidak mampu menjelaskan ide, situasi sehari-hari dan relasi matematika secara tertulis maupun dengan gambar, pada indikator ketiga siswa tidak mampu menyatakan situasi ke dalam model matematika yaitu peserta didik dapat menggambarkan bangun yang sesuai pada permasalahan yaitu bagian luas kebun.
