Abstract

The aims of this research are to investigate: 1) the difference of students in writing narrative text achievement taught by cooperative learning and contextual teaching learning methods. 2) The difference of the students writing narrative text achievement, who have high and low reading ability. 3) The interaction between methods of teaching and reading ability on the students achievement in writing narrative text.This research has been done in MTsN Langsa on first semester of the 2009/2010. The method of this research is a quasi experimental with 2 x 2 factorial design. The independent variable of this research is methods of teaching and reading ability, and the dependent variable is writing narrative text achievement.The population of this research was IX grade of MTsN Langsa. The samples were taken from two classes (80 students). The first class (IX.1) was taught by Cooperative Learning and the second class (IX.2) were taught by Contextual Teaching Learning. The instrument used to gather of data: 1) the test of writing narrative text result was objective test (40 questions). (2) The test of reading ability. The data collected were analyzed with two ways analysis of variance (2x2 ANOVA).The results of this research show that (I) The students writing narrative text achievement taught by cooperative learning is better than by contextualteaching learning (f.b..„.1 = 4.19 > = 3.96). (2) There is significant differencebetween writing narrative text achievement of student who have high and lowreading ability = 34.03 > = 3.96). (3) There is interaction betweenmethods of teaching and reading ability toward writing narrative text achievement(f....,„.= 14.96 > = 3.96).
