Abstract

Metode penelitian yang diterapkan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas yangdilakukan secara kolaboratif yaitu dengan melibatkan satu guru mata pelajaran IlmuPengetahuan Sosial sebagai pengamat dan peneliti bertindak sebagai pengajar didalam kelas. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 39 siswa kelas V11.1.Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui: (1) tes tertulis untuk mengungkapkan konsepsisiswa.(2) wawancara untuk memperoleh tanggapan guru dan siswa tentang modelpembelajaran yang diterapkan, (3) observasi dilakukan untuk memperoleh data tentangaktivitas yang dilakukan oleh guru dan siswa serta keterampilan proses sains yangberkembang selama pembelajaran berlangsung. Pengolahan data dilakukan dengananalisa deskriftif menggunakan perhitungan persentase (%).Tujuan penelitian tindakan kelas ini adalah untuk meningkatkan efektivitasproses pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial di kelas VII-I Sekolah MenengahPertama Negeri 1 Tanah Jawa, Kabupaten Simalungun. Secara khusus, penelitian inidimaksudkan untuk mengetahui apakah penerapan model contextual teaching andlearning dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial pada topik sumberdaya alam. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam tiga siklus yang setiap siklus terdiri atasempat tahapan kegiatan yaitu; rencana tindakan, pelaksanaan tindakan, pengamatan, danrefleksi. Pembelajaran pada setiap siklus dilakukan dalam dua pertemuan.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (I) konsepsi awal siswa yang sudah ilmiahtentang topik sumber daya alam sangat bervariasi (rata-rata 30,98 %), (2) penerapanmodel contextual teaching and learning pada topik sumber daya alam terjadipengembangan konsepsi siswa sebesar 49,92 %, (3) penerapan model contextualteaching and learning pada topik sumber daya alam ternyata dapat mengembangkanaspek keterampilan proses sains dalam hal mengamati, interpretasi data,mengajukanpertanyaan, penerapan konsep, dan komunikasi, (4) penerapan model contextualteaching and learning dalam pembelajaran cenderung dapat mengurangi aktivitas-siswayang tidak berkaitan dengan kegiatan pembelajaran, (5) guru dan siswa memberitanggapan yang positif terhadap pelaksanaan pembeklajaran dengan penerapan modelcontextual teaching and learning.Sebagai implikasi dari hasil penelitian ini disarankan kepada guru: (1) untukPengelolaan hendaknya menerapkan model contextual teaching and learningyang berorientasi pada penggalian konsep awal siswa, (2) pembelaajran topik sumberdaya alam hendaknya diawali dengan mengaitkan terhadap permasalahan yang ada dilingkungan siswa.
