Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship of internal motivation with the professional competence of teachers, academic supervision attitudes toward professional competence of teachers, as well as internal motivation and attitudes toward academic supervision jointly with the professional competence of teachers.The method used in this research is descriptive method with type of research is the correlational research. Population in this study was all teachers who teach in the SMA Negeri 4 Medan of 80 teachers . The sample of this research is 80 teachers or entire populations were included in the sample because the population does not exceed 100 people. Data collection instruments were questionnaire surveys. Data analysis techniques used are regression and correlation.The findings of this study are: (1) there is a significant relationship between the internal motivation of teachers with professional competence shown by the correlation of 0.663 with the regression equation Y= -1.22 + 1.04 XI (2) there is a significant relationship between attitudes toward academic supervision teachers professional competence shown by the correlation coefficient of 0.545 with the regression equation Y= 45.74 + 0,27 X2; (3) there is a significant relationship between internal motivation and attitudes toward academic supervision jointly with teachers professional competence, demonstrated by the coefficient double correlation Ry.12 = 0.568 with the regression line equation Y= 40,74+0,08X, + 0,26X, . Coefficient of determination shows the results of 0.323, this means that 32.3% variation affecting professional competence of teachers can be explained by the perception of internal motivation and attitudes toward academic supervision. Based on the findings in this study, the teachers need to respond positively to academic supervision for the supervision of learning in essence is the assistance provided to all school staff to develop teaching and learning situations better. Furthermore, the teacher is expected to increase internal motivation in carrying out the task As with educators who in turn will enhance their professional competence.
