Abstract

The purposes of conducting this research wereto find out the types offigurative language in reading texts in “Bahasa Inggris” Textbooks and to investigate the difficulties of the reading comprehension for students in class X Accounting program. The data of the research waere collected from the tenth grade students of SMK NEGERI 13 MEDAN at Accounting Program in academic year 2018/2019. The subject of this research was 34 Students. This research was conducted by descriptive qualitative method. In this case, the reseacher collected the data from reading texts in“Bahasa Inggris” Textbooks and reading comprehension tests. The result showed that, 5 hyperbole which is 33.3%.There were 4personification which is 26.6%. There were 2 metonymy which is 13.3%%. There were 2 euphemism which is 13.3%, and antithesis is only 1 which is 6.6%. There was 1 repetition which is 6.6%. So, the dominant type of figurative language in reading texts “Bahasa Inggris” textbooks in class X Accounting program in SMK NEGERI 13 MEDAN is hyperbole which is 33.3%.
