Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen yang bertujuan mengetahui perbedaan kemampuan penalaran dan komunikasi matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan model pembelajaran IMPROVE dan model pembelajaran Think-Pair-Share (TPS). Subjek penelitian adalah siswa pada SMA Negeri 21 Medan Propinsi Sumatera Utara dengan subjek sampel adalah siswa kelas XI yaitu kelas XI IPA 2 yang berjumlah 33 orang siswa dan kelas XI IPA 3 yang berjumlah 34 orang siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari dua jenis instrumen yaitu, 1) tes kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa, dan 2) tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa. Berdasarkan analisis data dalam penelitian ini, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa 1) terdapat perbedaan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan model pembelajaran IMPROVE dan model pembelajaran Think-Pair-Share (TPS) dengan thitung > ttabel yaitu 3,444 > 1,669 dan taraf signifikansi yaitu 0,001 < 0,05, 2) terdapat perbedaan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan model pembelajaran IMPROVE dan model pembelajaran Think-Pair-Share (TPS) dimana thitung > ttabel yaitu 2,377 > 1,669 dan taraf signifikansi yaitu 0,020 < 0,05, 3) tidak terdapat interaksi antara model pembelajaran IMPROVE dan model pembelajaran Think-Pair-Share (TPS) dengan kemampuan awal matematika siswa terhadap kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa dimana nilai Fhitung < Ftabel yaitu 0,306 < 3,15 dan taraf signifikansi yaitu 0,738 > 0,05, dan 4) tidak terdapat interaksi antara model pembelajaran IMPROVE dan model pembelajaran Think-Pair-Share (TPS) dengan kemampuan awal matematika siswa terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dimana nilai Fhitung < Ftabel yaitu 0,033 < 3,15 dan taraf signifikansi yaitu 0,967 > 0,05.
