TRANSITIVITY SYSTEM OF BIOLOGY BILINGUAL TEXTBOOK OF GRADE X SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

This thesis deals with the analysis of transitivity systems found in clauses of
Biology Bilingual Textbook of Grade X Senior High School. Three aspects were
discussed in this thesis, i.e. (1) the similiarities and differences in transitivity
systems between English and Indonesian of Bilingual Biology textbook; (2) the
transitivity system used in the textbook; and (iii) the reasons of choosing such
kind of the transitivity system in both of English and Indonesianclauses found in
Bilingual Biology textbook. By using systemic functional linguistics the results of
the analysis were (i) all types of transitivity systems existed in clauses found in
the textbook. (ii) the textbook was dominated by Process Material (ProMat) and
followed by Pro.Rel.Indtn, Pro.Rel.Att. and Pro.Men. respectively, There were
also some differences in the process that were distinguished according to whether
they represent actions, speech, states of mind or states of being.
