Abstract

Form of cooperation in the management of productive property which is more familiar called as "Mawah" tradition. The mawah cannot be separated from the role of Islamic values that enter into the cultural joints in Aceh society. The philosophy of the Aceh people's life is "hukomngenadatlagezeutngensifeut" (law and custom are like substance and nature) has really reflected also in muamalah culture every day since ancient time. The practice of mawahis commonly implemented to manage the productive farm and paddy fields. The landowner in this case acts as ShahibulMaalwho gives full authority to work on the land either the paddy fields or farms. Then at harvest time, net profit is calculated after deducting for tithe and the cost of cultivation / production, the net profit is then divided according to the agreement at the beginning.The implementation of customary practices of mawahinKutaBarosub-district can improve the local community's economy. The method used was qualitative method through empirical juridical approach which is descriptive character. Instrument.data collection in this research was done through observation, interview and documentation. Theinterviews took place in the sub-district office, resident office, village office, and in the area of rice fields of peasants and paddy field owners.
