TRANSLATION METHOD IN A WALK TO REMEMBER NOVEL TRANSLATED INTO KAN KUKENANG SELALU

The research dealt with A Walk to Remember novel with the aims of the study were to (1) invetigate kinds of translation methods in translating I Walk to Remember Novel into Bahasa Indonesia, (2) to investigate A Walk to Remember novel process in its translation into Bahasa Indonesia , (3) to describe the translation method applied in the ways they are. The research was conducted by using qualitative descriptive design. The data of this study were A Walk to Remember Novel and there were translated into Bahasa Indonesia by Kathleen S.W at all (2002) taken from the Novel entitle “Kan Kukenang Selalu”. The results of this study showed that (1) There were six kinds of translation methods in translating I walk to remember novel into bahasa indonesia namely word for word, free ,literal, faithfull, idiomatic, and equivalence tranlation. (2) In process translation of A Walk to Remember novel there were four ways in translating novel namely The source language text level, the referential level, the cohesive level, the level of naturalness. (3) In translating A Walk to Remember novel , the translator need to know all aspects of cultural bacground, intention, register, tone,mark the difficult words of both of language.
