Abstract

This study is an attempt to discover the effect of applying Cooperative Integrated Reading And Composition (CIRC) Method on students’ achievement in writing narrative. It was conducted by using experimental research design. The population of this research was the eight (VIII) grade students of Mts. Ummul Quraa which consists of 3 classes with the total number of students is 65. The samples of this research were taken by random sampling through lottery technique. The result was class VIII A consist of 21 students became the experimental group and class VIII B consist of 20 students became the control group. The experimental group was taught by using Cooperative Integrated Reading And Composition (CIRC) Method while the control group by using Conventional Method. The instrument of collecting the data was sriting test. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The result shows that the value t-observed (2.534) is higher than the value of t-table (2.023) (∝ =0.05) with the degree of freedom (df) = 39. It means that there is a significant effect of apllying Cooperative Integrated Reading And Composition (CIRC) Method on students’ achievement in writing narrative. So, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.
