Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan aktivitas dan hasil belajar kimia siswa yang dibelajarkan menggunakan strategi pembelajaran REACT menggunakan metode eksperimen dan penyelesaian masalah pada materi pokok larutan penyangga. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI MIA SMA Negeri 3 Medan yang berjumlah 13 kelas dengan total jumlah siswa 576 siswa. Sampel yang digunakan pada penelitian ini diambil dengan teknik purposif sebanyak dua kelas, yakni satu kelas sebagai kelas eksperimen I dan satu kelas sebagai kelas eksperimen II. Masing-masing kelas terdiri atas 40 orang siswa yang dijadikan sampel penelitian ini. Siswa pada kelas eksperimen I dibelajarkan menggunakan strategi pembelajaran strategi pembelajaran REACT menggunakan metode eksperimen. Sedangkan siswa pada kelas eksperimen II dibelajarkan menggunakan strategi pembelajaran REACT menggunakan metode penyelesaian masalah. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah instrumen ranah kognitif dan afektif. Untuk mengukur ranah kognitif digunakan instrumen tes hasil belajar yang disusun dalam bentuk objective test dengan jumlah soal sebanyak 17 soal yang telah dianalisis dan dinyatakan memenuhi syarat uji validitas isi secara expert judgement, tingkat kesukaran, daya pembeda, dan reliabilitas. Sebagai prasyarat uji hipotesis, data hasil belajar dan aktivitas siswa kedua kelompok sampel diuji normalitas dan homogenitasnya dan diperoleh data kedua kelompok sampel yang berdistribusi normal dan homogen. Uji hipotesis dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji t-test dua pihak. Untuk rata-rata hasil belajar kelas eksperimen I adalah 80,283 dan kelas eksperimen II adalah 89,388 dengan perolehan nilai thitung = -6,074 dan untuk rata-rata aktivitas siswa kelas eksperimen I adalah 79,091 dan kelas eksperimen II adalah 73,33 dengan perolehan nilai thitung = 2,465. Sehingga t hitung berada di daerah kritis yaitu tolak Ho dengan -thitung<-2,063 dan thitung > 2,063. Sehingga ditarik kesimpulan bahwa ada perbedaan antara aktivitas dan hasil belajar siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan menggunakan strategi pembelajaran REACT menggunakan mentode eksperimen dan penyelesaian masalah pada materi pokok larutan penyangga.
