Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematika siswa dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Cooperative Integreted Reading and Composion (CIRC) dikelas VII Yayasan Madrasah Islamiyah Medan T.A. 2016/2017. Subjek dalam peneliti ini adalah siswa kelas VII Yayasan Madrasah Islamiyah Medan yang berjumlah 36 orang dan objek peneliti ini adalah meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematika siswa dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Cooperative Integreted Reading and Composion (CIRC) di kelas VII Yayasan Madrasah Islamiyah Medan. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah tes, lembar observasi, dan dokumentasi. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang terdiri atas 2 siklus, masing-masing terdiri dari dua kali pertemuan. Sebelum memberikan tindakan, terlebih dahulu diberikan tes awal dan pada setiap akhir siklus, siswa diberikan tes kemampuan komunikasi matematika. Dari hasil analisis data tes awal diperoleh peningkatan hasil tes akhir kemampuan komunikasi matematika. Jumlah siswa yang mampu berkomunikasi dari tes awal adalah 8 dari 36 orang siswa (22,22%) dengan rata-rata kelas 51,67. Hasil analisis data tes kemampuan komunikasi matematika pada siklus I setelah menggunakan model pembelajaran koperatif tipe Cooperative Integreted Reading and Composion (CIRC) menunjukkan 21 orang siswa (58,33%) yang mampu berkomunikasi dengan nilai rata-rata 65,14. Sedangkan pada siklus II meningkat menjadi 31 orang siswa (86,11%) yang mampu berkomunikasi dengan nilai rata-rata 78,75. Berdasarkan kriteria ketuntasan klasikal maka pembelajaran ini telah mencapai target ketuntasan belajar. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulakan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Cooperative Integreted Reading and Composion (CIRC) dapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematika siswa pada materi aritmatika sosial di kelas VII Yayasan Madrasah Islamiyah Medan. Saran yang diajukan adalah agar penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe CIRC ini dapat dijadikan salah satu alternatif pembelajaran yang efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam memecahkan masalah matematika.
