Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui : (1) Perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa dengan menerapkan pendekatan open-ended dengan pembelajaran biasa. (2) Proses jawaban siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah berkaitan dengan kemampuan berpikir kreatif melalui pendekatan open-ended dengan pembelajaran biasa. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan kuasi eksperimen dengan populasi seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Nasrani 1 Medan. Secara acak, dipilih dua sampel dalam penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas VIII-B sebanyak 25 orang sebagai kelas eksperimen yang diajar dengan pendekatan open-ended dan siswa kelas VIII-A sebanyak 25 orang sebagai kelas kontrol yang diajar dengan pembelajaran biasa. Pada akhir pembelajaran kedua sampel diberikan tes dengan menggunakan instrumen yang sama, dimana instrumen tersebut telah diuji reliabilitas dan validitas. Analisis data menggunakan uji-t. Sebelum data dianalisis, terlebih dahulu data diuji normalitas dan homogenitas sebagai uji persyaratan analisis data. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan menggunakan uji-t dua pihak dengan menggunakan SPSS 16.00 diperoleh nilai signifikan (2-tailed) sebesar 0.039 dengan &#945; = 0,05. Hal ini berarti 0.039 < 0.05 maka H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa: (1) terdapat perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kreatif antara siswa yang diberi pembelajaran pendekatan open-ended dengan pembelajaran biasa pada pokok bahasan kubus dan balok di kelas VIII SMP Nasrani 1 Medan T.A 2014/2015, (2) Proses jawaban siswa dengan menerapkan pendekatan open-ended memiliki kelancaran (fluency), keluwesan (flexibility), dan kebaruan (novelty) yang lebih baik dalam menyelesaikan masalah berkaitan dengan kemampuan berpikir kreatif dibandingkan dengan menerapkan pembelajaran biasa.Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, maka peneliti menyarankan: (1) pendekatan open-ended dalam pembelajaran matematika dapat dijadikan sebagai salah satu alternatif pendekatan yang efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa, (2) diharapkan guru matematika dapat menciptakan suasana belajar yang memberi kesempatan pada siswa untuk mengungkapkan gagasannya dengan cara mereka sendiri.
