Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah pembelajaran metode pemecahan masalah lebih efektif dalam mengajarkan pokok bahasan persamaan kuadrat, dan selanjutnya untuk mengetahui apakah hasil belajar siswa yang diajar dengan menggunakan pembelajaran metode pemecahan masalah lebih baik dari hasil belajar siswa yang diajar dengan menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional pada pokok bahasan persamaan kuadrat di kelas X SMA Budi Murni 3 Tahun Ajaran 2011/2012. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa SMA Budi Murni 3. Sampel dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari dua kelas yang dipilih secara acak (random sampling) yaitu kelas XA sebagai kelas eksperimen dengan model pembelajaran Kooperatif Tipe STAD dan kelas Xb sebagai kelas kontrol dengan pembelajaran Konvensional.Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata pos-tes pada kelas eksperimen adalah 75,23 sedangkan pada kelas kontrol diperoleh 70,67. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data diperoleh bahwa dari 40 siswa terdapat 26 orang siswa (86,6%) yang tuntas belajar dan 4 orang siswa (13,3%) yang tidak tuntas belajar. Dari kriteria pencapaian ketuntasan indikator pembelajaran sebanyak 3 indikator (85,7%) yang tuntas dari 4 indikator yang ada. Sedangkan dari hasil observasi, proses pembelajaran termasuk dalam kategori baik, dengan rata-rata nilai akhir 84,00. Dari kriteria efektifitas pada penelitian ini maka diperoleh bahwa pembelajaran model kooperatif tipe STAD efektif.Selanjutnya untuk menguji hipotesis dilakukan uji statistik-t, dari perhitungan diperoleh harga thitung =1,804 dan ttabel = 1,667 pada taraf dan ternyata thitung > ttabel. Maka hipotesis H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima. Berarti ada perbedaan hasil belajar yang signifikan siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Gebang pada pokok bahasan persamaan kuadrat yang menggunakan pambelajaran model kooperatif tipe STAD dan Pembelajaran konvensional dan pencapaian hasil belajar kelas eksperimen dengan menggunakan pembelajaran model kooperafif tipe STAD lebih tinggi daripada kelas kontrol yang menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional.
