Orang tua merupakan pendidik pertama dan utama bagi anak-anak mereka, karena dari merekalah anak mula-mula menerima pendidikan. Banyak orang tua beranggapan bahwa setelah mereka menyekolahkan anak-anak mereka dan memberikan seluruh fasilitas yang diperlukan itu sajalah kewajiban mereka untuk meningkatkan prestasi anak-anaknya, tanpa menghiraukan kebutuhan anak yang lain seperti perhatian, motivasi, pola asuh, serta pergaulan anak. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pola asuh dan motivasi orang tua terhadap prestasi belajar ekonomi siswa kelas XI IPS SMA Negeri 1 Tanjung Morowa Tahun Ajaran 2011/2012. Untuk memperoleh data yang diperlukan dalam penelitian ini dilakukan pengumpulan data melalui observasi, penyebaran angket dan dokumentasi yang diperoleh dari sekolah. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI IPS yang terdiri dasar 4 kelas dengan jumlah siswa 160 orang. Sampel penelitian diperoleh sebanyak 40 orang. Teknik pengampilan sampel di setiap kelas dengan cara random sampling. Berdasarkan jawaban angket yang disebarkan kepada responden diperoleh rata-rata pola asuh sebesar 3,445 dikategorikan sangat baik/sangat demokratis, hasil jawaban angket motivasi orang tua diperoleh rata-rata sebesar 2,985 dikategorikan baik, dan untuk prestasi belajar ekonomi siswa diperoleh rata-rata nilai sebesar 78,825 dan dikategorikan baik. Hipotesis dalam penelitian ini diuji dengan uji t (persial) diperoleh ttabel pada taraf signifikan 95% untuk dk=40 adalah sebesar 1,684, dan diperoleh thitung untuk pola asuh sebesar 1,715 dan thitung untuk motivasi sebesar - 0,282, dan uji F (simultan) diperoleh Ftabel didasarkan pada dk pembanding = k (jumlah variabel bebas) dan dk penyebut = (n-k-1) pada taraf signifikan 95% dan  5% maka diperoleh dk pembanding = 2 dan dk penyebut = 37, maka diperoleh Ftabel sebesar 3,25, dan diperoleh Fhitung 2,883. Kesimpulan penelitian ini secara uji persia bahwa pola asuh berpengaruh terhadap prestasi belajar, sedangkan motivasi tidak memiliki pengaruh terhadap prestasi belajar. Dan secara silmultan pola asuh dan motivasi orang tua tidak memiliki pengaruh terhadap prestasi belajar siswa.

Parents is the first teaching and actually for their children, because from them children beginning received education. Many parents argument that after they to send to school their children and give all fasilities which need it just obliged them fot to step on achivement their children,without to carefor necessaries other children like is inter course, motivation, parenting, and association children. Pointed to this result is for know related parenting and motivation parents against student achievement economics education class XI IPS SMA Negeri 1 Tanjung Morawa academic year 2011-2012. To obtain the necessarry data in the study was contucted collecting data through observation, questionnaire disseminition and documentation obtained from the school. The population in this study were all student of class XI IPS consists of 4 classes with 160 people the number of students. The sample obtained as many as 40 people. Sampling tecniques in each class by random sampling. Based on answers to qustionnaires distributed to respondents carned an average of 3,445 category very good / very democratic, the result answer the motivation questionnaire parent obtained an average 0f 2,895 category good, and for studying the economic achievement of students obtained an average value of 78,825 and get result good. The hypotesis tasted in this study with the T test (persial) obtained a ttable at 95% significant level for dk = 40 is 1,684, and get thitung parenting is 1,715 and -0,282 for tcount for motivation, and the F test (simultan) obtained Ftabel based on the comparison dk = k (free variabels) and the denomitor dk = (n-k-1) at denominator = 37, then gained Ftable of 3,25, and Fhitung obtained 2,883. The conclutions of this study is a persial test of the parenting effect on learning achievement, while motivation had no effect on learning achievement. And simultan parenting and the motivation of parents do not have any effect on student achievement.
