Abstract

Metode eksperimen adalah cara penyajian bahan pelajaran di mana siswa melakukan percobaan dengan mengalami untuk membuktikan sendiri sesuatu pertanyaan atau hipotesis yang dilajari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh metode eksperimen terhadap hasil belajar siswa pada materi pengukuran di kelas VII semester I SMP Negeri 36 Medan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimen. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah now group pretest-posttest design. Populasi dalam penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 36 Medan yang terdiri dari 8 kelas berjumlah 305 orang. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan cara cluster rondom sampling dengan mengambil 2 kelas dari 8 kelas yaitu VII7 sebagai kelas eksperimen berjumlah 39 orang dan kelas control berjumlah 36 orang. Instrumen yang digunakan ada dua yaitu tes hasil belajar dalam bentuk 4 pilihan berganda dengan jumlah 20 orang soal dan lembar observasi. Tes telah divalidasi isi oleh dua dosen fisika dan satu guru bidang studi fisika di sekolah SMP Negeri 36 Medan dan lembar observasi psikomotorik kelompok siswa pada pembelajaran dengan metode eksperimen. Uji yang digunakan dalam menguji hipotesis adalah uji t satu pihak dan uji t dua pihak. Dari hasil penelitian di atas nilai rata-rata pretes kelas eksperiemen 32,17 dengan standar deviasi 11.80 dan nilai rata-rata kelas control 31,24 dengan standar deviasi 14,43. Kedua sampel penelitian ini berdistribusi normal dan memiliki varians yang homogeny. Selama proses pembelajaran dengan menggunakan eksperimen diperoleh bahwa terdapat peningkatan aktivitas belajar siswa yaitu pada pertemuan I nilai rata-rata 67,7 dan pada pertemuan II nilai rata-rata sebesar 74,48. Rata-rata psikomotorik kelompok siswa kelas ekperimen selama dua kali pertemuan sebesar 9,6 yang berkatagori cukup baik. Dalam proses pembelajaran ada kendala yang dihadapi oleh penulis yaitu siswa kurang serius dalam mendengarkan petunjuk dari guru dan penulis kewalahan dalam melaksanakan pembimbingan terhadap kelompok secara bergiran. Kendala-kendala ini dapat dipecahkan dengan memberikan motivasi atau menggunakan nedia pembelajaran yang menarik perhatian siswa ketika memberi penjelasan atau kpetunjuk dalam menggunakan alat-alat ukur dan pembentukan kelompok yang homogeny atau memiliki tingkat pengetahuan yang berbeda swhingga siswa bias saling bertukar pengetahuan selesai diberikan, diperoleh postes dengan hasil rata-rata kelas eksperimen 68,72 dengan standar deviasi, 7,14 dan kelas control 62,78 dengan standar deviasi 7,96. Hasil uji t diperoleh thitung = 3,64 dan ttabel = 1,99, sehingga thitung >ttabel maka Ha diterima, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh metode eksperimen terhadap hasil belajar siswa pada materi pengukuran di kelas VII semester I SMP Negeri 36 Medan.
