Abstract

This research aims to determine students’ perception about The Nature Exploration Approach, student’s learning outcome and the relations between students’ perception about The Nature Exploration approach with learning outcome of Biology Education student grade 2014 on Plant Ecology and Higer Plant Taxonomy subject study in State University of Medan. The population in this study were all students of department Biology Education Grade 2014 total 207 students. Samples were taken by Cluster Sampling technique. The total number of samples is 60 students. The research method used in this research is descriptive correlative, using questionnaires, documentation value and interview as data collection tools. For data analysis technique that from the regression equation Y = 1,39 + 0,014 X, using the formula product moment correlation coefficient values obtained correlation (r) = 0,35 and index of determination (I) = 12,25%. This means that there is a positive and significant correlation between students' perception of Nature Exploration approach with learning outcome of Biology Education student on Plant Ecology and Higer Plant Taxonomy, where the students' perception of Nature Exploration approach contributed 12,25% of the studen’s learning outcome. The average grade of students’ perceptions of Nature Exploration approach is 133,75 on a hig category. The average grade of students’ learning outcome is 3,28 which is in the fairly category . Testing the hypothesis using a statistical test t obtained t count > t table or 2,85 > 2,03. Thus H0 is rejected and Ha accepted. It can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between students' perception of Nature Exploration approach with student’s learning outcome of Biology Education Grade 2014 on Plant Ecology and Higer Plant Taxonomy in State University of Medan.
