Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penggunaan media sosial pada pembelajaran biologi di kelas XI MIA SMA Negeri 2 Binjai Tahun Pelajaran 2020/2021. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dalam bentuk deskriptif. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara random sampling yaitu sebanyak 3 kelas yang terdiri dari 105 peserta didik dan 2 guru biologi. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data berupa angket yang terdiri dari 6 jenis media sosial (WhatsApp, YouTube, Zoom, Instagram, Google classroom, dan Quipper school). Berdasarkan analisis data dapat disimpulkan bahwa Peserta didik kelas XI MIA dan guru biologi di SMA Negeri 2 Binjai T.P 2020/2021 menggunakan media sosial berupa WhatsApp (100%), YouTube (100%), Zoom (99,07%), Instagram (0%), Google classroom (0%), dan Quipper school (0%) dalam pembelajaran biologi. Intensitas penggunaan media sosial yang dilakukan oleh peserta didik, yaitu WhatsApp digunakan 2-4 jam (42,86%); 5-7 jam (52,38%); 8-10 jam (4,76%) per hari, YouTube digunakan < 2 jam (7,62%); 2-4 jam (36,19%); 5-7 jam (49,52%); 8-10 jam (6,67%) per hari dan Zoom digunakan satu kali (66,67%) dalam sehari. Intensitas penggunaan media sosial yang dilakukan oleh kedua guru biologi, yaitu WhatsApp digunakan 5-7 jam dan 8-10 jam per hari; YouTube digunakan < 2 jam dan 2-4 jam per hari; serta Zoom digunakan satu kali dalam sehari.
