Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat perbedaan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dengan menerapkan dua model pembelajaran, yakni model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) dan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD pada materi Himpunan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan jenis penelitiannya adalah quasi eksperiment (eksperimen semu). Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 1 Setia Janji dengan teknik pengambilan sampel adalah sampel acak sederhana dan pemilihan kelas dilakukan secara random, didapatkan siswa kelas VII-1 sebagai kelas eksperimen I dan kelas VII-2 sebagai kelas eksperimen II yang masing-masing berjumlah 32 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tes essai dengan jumlah soal 3 butir yang telah divalidkan oleh validator. Analisis data menggunakan uji t pada taraf signifikansi 5% dengan uji prasyarat normalitas dan homogenitas. Pada pengujian data pretest kedua kelas diperoleh bahwa data kedua kelas berdistribusi normal dan homogen. Hasil uji t data selisih posttest-pretest diperoleh t-hitung = 2,056 sedangkan t-tabel = 1,694. Karena t hitung > t tabel (2,056 > 1,694), maka Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima, yang berarti bahwa terdapat perbedaan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) dan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD di kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Setia Janji.
