Abstract

This research is about the Study of Organology and Function in traditional Salung music instruments in Paringgonan Jae Village, Padang Lawas Regency. This study aims to determine the organology and function of traditional Salung music instruments in Paringgonan Jae Village, Padang Lawas Regency. By using Prier theory. This research is based on a theoretical basis that explains the notions of Existence, Organology, Game Techniques, and Functions. The method in this research uses qualitative methods using a descriptive approach. The sample in this study was Mr. Oloan Hasibuan, and the people of Mandailing, Paringgonan Jae Village, Padang Lawas Regency. This data collection was carried out by the method of observation or observation, interviews, audiovisual and literature study. This research took the research location in Paringgonan Jae Village, Padang Lawas Regency and this research was conducted in October 2020. The results showed that the traditional Salung music instrument in the Paringgonan Jae community, Padang Lawas Regency did not play an important role. In accordance with prevailing beliefs and religions in the Paringgonan Jae community, Padang Lawas Regency at the Markusip Event. Because the Markusip program is not so popular anymore.
