Abstract

The objectives of this study are : (1) To describe the students’ writing achievement taught by using Collaborative Writing Technique higher than those taught by using Brainstorming Technique. (2) To describe the students’ achievement with high curiosity higher than those low curiosity. (3) To explain the interaction between collaborative writing technique and brainstorming technique with students’curiosity in writing achievement. The research design was experimental by using factorial design 2x2. There were 68 students from 2020/2021 academic year of MAS Al-Washliyah 30 Binjai as sample of this research. The students were divided into two groups. The first group was treated by using Collaborative Writing Technique and second group was treated by using Brainstorming Technique. The Curiosity Test was conducted for classifying the students upon the high curiosity and the low curiosity by using questionnaire. Students’ achievement in writing was measured by using essay test. The data were analyzed by applying Two-Way ANOVA, The result revealed that (1) Students’ writing achievement taught by using Collaborative Writing Technique those higher than that of taught by using Brainstorming with F observed is higher than F table at level significance α = 0.05 (Fobs = 0.978 >Ftab= 0.040), (2) There was difference of students achievement in writing with high curiosity was taught by using Collaborative Writing Technique was higher than that low curiosity taught by using Brainstorming Technique with F observed is higher than F table at the level significance α = 0.05 (Fobs = 65.680 >Ftab0.002). (3) There was significant interaction between writing teaching technique and students curiosity on students writing achievement with F observed is higher than F table at the level significance α = 0.05 ( Fobs = 4.027 > F tab = 0.016). Thus, teaching technique and students’ curiosity significantly affected the students writing achievement.
