Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan: (1) untuk mengetahui apakah ada perbedaan pemahaman konsep fisika antara siswa yang diajarkan dengan model pembelajaran problem solving dan pembelajaran konvensional. (2) untuk mengetahui apakah ada perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis dalam menyelesaikan masalah fisika antara siswa yang diajarkan dengan model pembelajaran problem solving dan pembelajaran konvensional. (3) untuk mengetahui apakah ada perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa yang memiliki pemahaman konsep kelompok atas dan siswa yang memiliki pemahaman konsep kelompok bawah. Sampel dalam penelitian ini dilakukan secara cluster random sampling sebanyak dua kelas, dimana kelas pertama sebagai kelas eksperimen diterapkan model pembelajaran problem solving dan kelas kedua sebagai kelas kontrol diterapkan model pembelajaran konvensional. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu instrumen pemahaman konsep dalam bentuk pilihan ganda sebanyak 14 soal dan instrumen kemampuan berpikir kritis dalam bentuk uraian sebanyak 6 soal yang telah dinyatakan valid dan secara keseluruhan memiliki reliabilitas sangat tinggi. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh rata-rata pemahaman konsep dan kemampuan berpikir kritis untuk kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dari kelas kontrol, dan kesimpulan bahwa untuk hipotesis pertama pemahaman konsep fisika melalui problem solving lebih baik dibandingkan konvensional. Untuk hipotesis ke dua kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa melalui problem solving lebih baik dibandingkan konvensional. Untuk hipotesis ketiga disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis antara siswa yang memiliki pemahaman konsep kelompok atas lebih baik dibandingkan dengan pemahaman konsep kelompok bawah.
