Translation Method in Translating of Booklet Tapanuli Utara

The thesis is entitled Translation Method in Translating of Booklet Tapanuli Utara. This study aims to find out the type of translation and to describe the translation realize of translation method used in translating Indonesia tourism booklet from Tapanuli Utara. Descritive qualitative method used to analyze the data. The total number of sentences are 156 sentences, and only 150 sentences that were translated by using the translation method according to Newmark’s theory (1988), and another 6 sentences were translated with a different method
from the Newmark’s theory. The result showed that 2 sentences (1,5%) by Worfor- Word Translation 119 s entences (80%) by Literal Translation, 9 sentences
(6%) by Semantic Translation, 2 sentences (1,5%) by Adaptation Traanslation, 5 sentences (3%) by Free Translation, 12 sentences (12%) by Communicative
Translation. Faithful Translation, and Idiomatic Translation are not used in translating this booklet. The most dominant realization translation method is triple
realization with 73% which found in 1l phrases from the total 22 sentences, followed Double realization method translation with 23%, Triple realization method translation 4% and the last is Single realization with 0% because none of sentence were translate with one method translation.
