Abstract

The objective of this study was to develop the appropriate student’s writing worksheet by using the scientific approach for the tenth grade students’ at SMKN 2 Binjai. This study was conducted by using Research and Development (R&D) design through six stages: gathering the data and information, analyzing the data, designing worksheet, validating by the experts, revising and final product. The subject of the study was tenth grade at SMKN 2 Binjai. The data was collected by administering interview to English teacher and distributing the questionaire to 34 respondents of tenth grade at SMKN 2 Binjai to get the students’ needs. This research developed by using the five stages of Scientific Approach, consist of Observing, Questioning, Experimenting, Associating and Communicating. The interview and questionnaire results prove that the students’ needs English Worksheet in learning writing which can stimulate their ability and develop their thinking process. Using students’ worksheet in learning process also help students’ to understand the material by themselves. The product has been validated by an English lecturer and an English teacher with the interval was 4,58. The product was categorized as “Very Good” students’ writing worksheet of Recount text.
