Abstract

This study is about the Teacher Strategies in Teacher Assessment on Students’ Speaking Performance. The purpose of this research is how does the teacher implement assessment on students’ speaking performance at senior high school. The data of this study was taken from the teacher who taught in tenth grade at SMA Swasta PAB 8 Saentis in academic year 2018/2019. The research design of this study was qualitative research. The instruments of collecting data were observation, interview and scores. The methods that have been used successfully to assess performance was Open-ended or extended response. The researcher analyzed the factors of the criteria of the assessment. They were five (5) categories, which teachers have to focused in it in their assessment of students’ speaking. They were; 1) Pronunciation; 2) Grammar; 3) Vocabulary; 4) Fluency; 5) Comprehension.
