Abstract
Tujuan dari Penelitian Tindakan Kelas ini adalah untuk menerapkan pembelajaran kooperatif yaitu strategi Think-Pair-Share (TPS) dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar membaca pemahaman. Tiga puluh dua siswa kelas XI IA2 di SMA Negeri 4 Kisaran diajarkan membaca pemahaman dengan menggunakan strategy TPS. Siswa dibagi menjadi 16 pasangan. Mereka ditugaskan dalam tiga tahap, masing-masing individu berpikir untuk menjawab pertanyaan dari guru pada tahap pertama, kemudian mereka dipasangkan untuk bertukar hasil pikiran mereka pada tahap kedua, dan yang terahir mereka berbagi ide dengan siswa satu kelas. Peneliti dibantu oleh seorang kolaborator. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, catatan harian, kuis, dan angket. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan (1) memberikan tes membaca pemahaman untuk mengetahui kemampuan siswa di tahap awal,(2) merancang rencana pembelajaran, dan (3) menerapkan penelitian tindakan kelas dalam 3 siklus, masing-masing siklus terdiri dari 2 pertemuan. Di siklus 1, nilai rata-rata siswa adalah 59; di siklus 2, nilai rata-rata siswa adalah 69,7; dan di siklus 3, nilai rata-rata siswa meningkat menjadi 79,6. Hasil tersebut telah memenuhi kriteria kesuksesan, 75% siswa telah mencapai nilai 70 atau lebih. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disimpulkan dan disarankan bahwa (1) TPS adalah srategi yang efektif untuk meningkatkan membaca pemahaman siswa, (2) observasi menunjukkan bahwa siswa aktif dalam berbagi ide, bertanya dan menjawab pertanyaan, dan (3) siswa merespon positip terhadap penggunaan strategi TPS dalam pembelajaran membaca pemahaman. Guru-guru seharusnya dilatih untuk menerapkan strategi TPS khususnya dalam pembelajaran membaca pemahaman dan untuk peningkatan intruksional pengajaran.
