Abstract

The study deals with Slang in Rich Brian’s Songs. The research method of this study used qualitative research. The data of this study were the slang words of Rich Brian’s Album “Amen”. The sources of the data got from lyrics of Rich Brian’s Songs in his album namely “Amen”. The data were analyzed by using Patrdige’s theory, Yule’s theory an Holmes’ theory. The researcher found that there were Workmen’s Slang, Slang in Publicity, Slang in Public School and University, Society Slang and Medicine Slang, Slang in Theater and Soldier’s Slang. As the word formation of the slang words there were Borrowing Process, Clipping, Blending, Multiple Process, Coinage, Compounding, Back Formation and Acronym. The reason of Rich Brian used slang words in his songs was because the setting, topic interaction and the context of the songs contained young people’s lifestyle then the singer put several words that more known among young people.
