Abstract

Persimmon (Diospyros kaki L) is one type of subtropical fruit plant that is classified as rare in Indonesia and has the potential to be developed. The widest spread of Persimmon plants in North Sumatra is located in Karo Regency. The characterization of accessions conducted aims to obtain basic morphological characteristics so that the phenotype can be distinguished from each accession quickly and easily using the guide book of International Plant Genetic Resources Institute (IPGRI). Sampling was conducted at the Brastagi Vegetable Crops Research Institute KM 60 and Brastagi District. The scope of activities in this research included data in the form of characterization (morphology), documentation, and interviews with Persimmon Farmers. Data analysis is in the form of qualitative descriptive and displays data in table form along with documentation in the field. There are differences of the color of fruit flesh in Persimmon its yellow, orange, and reddish. Kind of Persimmon of Dairi District found at the Brastagi KM 60 Vegetable Research Institute, there are no seeds. All persimmon trees were observed to have high branching. In Dairi District, its oval fruit. The number of corolla lobes in all accessions observed were 4 and had a slightly different shape and size of diameter in the fruit. When collecting data, its only the fruit of Karo Regency with reddish orange color. In addition, the most striking differences are the shape of the corolla lobe, length of internode, the basic shape of the leaf strands, the shape of the leaf strands, the shape of the calyx seen from above, the shape of the fruit seen with transverse incision, the laying of the petals, and astringency.
