Abstract

Analysis and standardization of high school chemistry textbooks to class XI 1st semester curriculum-based educational unit level (SBC) described in this thesis. This study aims to determine: (1) The order of the chemical composition of materials feasible and appropriate to teach high school students / semester 1 MA class XI to match the sequence of the subject matter of chemistry at the high school level in North Sumatra, (2) Comparison of presentation of chemical materials contained in textbooks in circulation and used by high school stude nts / semester 1 MA class XI in North Sumatra, according to national standards, (3) Comments teacher senior high schools that teach in class XI against chemical materials submitted as a standard textbook XI 1st semester chemistry class that refers to student competency achievement, and (4) Design an effective textbook to teach chemistry in high school / MA class XI, for a systematic and easily understood by students. This study is descriptive by using a variety of documents as its object. The population of this study are: (1) Books instructional materials used SMA / MA State / Private in North Sumatra, (2) Teachers who teach classes XI chemistry with the criteria of having at least 5 years experience teaching and education S1. Samples are 5 textbooks which have been using SBC and commonly used as a student handbook in North Sumatra. The research instrument was a questionnaire with a sheet category contains 7 components, namely : (1) breadth of material, (2) Recency, (3) Contains insights productivity, (4) Stimulate curiosity, (5) To develop life skills, (6) Develop insight into of Indonesian, and (7) Contextual. Feasibility test results based on content standards of the five textbooks analyzed obtained for the books I, II, III, and V have a mean value above 0.75, which means the book is very good
