Abstract

The analysis and standarization of Senior High School (SHS) chemistry book based on contents standard of KTSP curriculum is explained in this study. The aims of the study are: (1) Analyze the chemistry textbook used in high school in North Sumatra, (2) Prepare the material order of high school chemistry class the second semester of the corresponding XI and systematic according to KTSP, (3) Knowing what chemical materials adequate and appropriate to be taught in high school class XI semester II for systematic and easy to understand why the students in learning, (4) Develop a high school chemistry textbook that standard to be used in teaching high school chemistry class the second semester XI, (5) Knowing the opinions of high school chemistry teacher on the development of a standard textbook high school chemistry class XI of the second semester.. The study is a descriptive study. The population that are used in the study are: (a) all chemistry materials in Chemistry Text Books of SHS Class XI Semester II, and (b) Certified SHS chemistry teachers who taught in Class XI. The sample of the study is 5 text books with criteria that the text book is based on KTSP curriculum, it already pass from Government assessment of Pusat Perbukuan Depdiknas, and they are commonly used in SHS Schools in North Sumatera. The instrument used in the study is questionnaire with category paper that consists of indicators. Then the data are identified in percentage for each book and categories. The results showed that the sequence of chemical materials of class X was found worthy to be taught in class XI of the second semester in order are: Classification of acid-base, pH concept application in pollution, Stochiometric solution, Titration of acids and bases, buffer solution concept, the working principle of a buffer solution, Calculating pH buffer solution, buffer solution Functions, Concept hydraulic salt, salt nature of the hydrolyzed, Calculation, Application hydrolysis of salt in everyday life, understanding the solubility and solubility product, Predicting deposition, Effect of ion namesake, Components and grouping colloidal system, colloidal properties, making colloidal, colloidal applications in everyday life. The results showed that the list of chemistry materials that is suitable to be taught to SHS students at class XI semester II are consisted The based on their opinion that they are tent to agree (average 3.60). A standard Chemistry text book for SHS that is developed in this study are consisted of five chapters, that is chapter 1. Acid-base solution, chapter 2. Buffer solution, chapter 3. Salt hydrolysis, chapter 4. Solubility and solubility product, chapter 5. Colloid. All chapters are equipped with illustration, problem-solving, and evaluation. The developed SHS chemistry text book has been evaluated by the chemistry teachers to validate the contents of the book as reference materials. The resultas showed that the respondents are tend to agree (average 3.44) with the text book in their contents. From the results it concluded that SHS chemistry teachers in North Sumatera give positive insight, agree with the standardized textbook developed in this study and the book is suitable to be used in teaching and learning chemistry.
