Abstract

This research was aimed to develop pop up book as media of Procedure text writing for grade 11 students of culinary program at SMK Negeri 10 Medan. This study was categorized as Research and Development (R & D) study which adapted from Borg and Gall (1989) theory with some modifications. The phases of conducting this research were gathering the data, needs analysis, media design, validation of experts, revision, and final product (pop up book). The subjects of this research were the eleventh grade English teacher, one class of eleventh grade culinary program students of SMK Negeri 10 Medan in academic year 2018/2019, and experts. The instruments for collecting data were interview and questionnaire. The interview result was analyzed as qualitative data and the questionnaires analyzed as quantitative data. These data were needs of students covering target needs and learning needs. This study developed writing media which only focused on Procedure text. The media was based on Curriculum 2013.
