DEVELOPING ENGLISH WRITING MATERIAL IN PROCEDURAL TEXT BASED ON CONTEXTUAL TEACHING AND LEARNING OF COMPUTER AND NETWORK ENGINEERING FOR ELEVENTH GRADE AT VOCATIONAL SCHOOL

This study aims to develop appropriate English writing materials, through Contextual Teaching and Learning for grade XI students of Computer and Network Engineering Program at SMK Dharma Bakti 1 Medan. This study was
conducted by Research and Development (R & D) design through six phases; gathering information and data, analyzing data, designing new materials based on
CTL, validating by experts, revising new material, and final product. The subject of this research was grade XI students of Computer and Network Engineering program consisting of 25 students. The instrumentations for collecting data were questionnaire, and documentation sheet. After analyzing the data, the researcher
got the students’ needs. The data were gathered by check the existing materials, administering interview to the teacher and distributing the questionnaire 25respondents to get the students’ needs. The result of questionnaire and
interview prove that the students need English writing materials which appropriate to their major that is Computer and Network Engineering program. Thus, developing materials have been validated by experts. The average scores are 4.42
from English Lecturer and 4.64 from English Teacher. It means that the developing materials categorized as relevant or appropriate for Grade XI Students of Computer and Network Engineering program.
