The purpose of this study is to determine the relationships between basic competence of mathematic, attitude on calculus, student's evaluation on teaching competence of lecturer with the achievement on calculus, both separately and simultaneously. This study was conducted at FMIPA Universitas Negeri Medan, North Sumatera (2003) with 176 respondents, which were selected by simple random sampling. The data were analyzed by using simple regression, multiple regression, simple correlation, and multiple correlation.
The findings there are positive correlation both separately and simultaneously between (1) basic competence of mathematic (x1) with the achievement on calculus (y), (2) attitude on calculus (x2) with the achievement on calculus (y), (3) student's evaluation on teaching competence of lecturer (x3) with the achievement on calculus (y).
Therefore, achievement on calculus could be enhanced by increasing basic competence of mathematic, attitude on calculus, student's evaluation on teaching competence of lecturer.
