Abstract

This study aims to determine the results of the development of teaching materials to write procedure text based mind map in students of class X SMK Negeri 7 Medan. The research method used is research and development (R & D) method proposed by Sugiyono refers to Borg & Gall model. The trial subjects consisted of 3 students with individual trials, 9 students with small group trials, and 32 students with limited field trials. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, questionnaires and procedure text writing tests. The results showed that: (1) validation of the material experts included the feasibility of the content with an average of 87,5% on very good criteria, the feasibility of the presentation with an average of 85,57% on very good criteria, and the language aspect with an average of 88 , 46% in very good criteria, (2) validation of design experts with an average of 85,41% on the criteria very well, (3) teachers response with an average of 86.03% on the criteria very well, (4) test a individual with an average of 71,11% on both criteria, (5) a trial to a small group together with an average of 83,15% on the criteria very well, and (6) a limited field test with an average of 86,04% on the criteria very well. The learning result student test write procedure text before use modules of 71,09 while the result write procedure text after using the module students increased by 86,71. The difference obtained by 15,62 from before to after. This proves that the teaching materials developed procedure text can improve student learning outcomes using mind map. The implication of this research is to give a practical contribution especially in the implementation of learning for teachers as additional teaching materials and as a means to assist and facilitate students in understanding the material of procedure text so that they can be applied to their respentive lives.
