DEVELOPING READING MATERIALS THROUGH PREDICTING INFORMATION BY USING PICTURES AT SMA NEGERI 2 MEDAN

The objective of this study was to develop the English reading materials through Predicting Information by Using Pictures. The method of the study was Research and Development (R&D) Borg & Gall through six phases. They are Gathering Information and Data, Analyzing Data, Designing Materials, Validating by Experts, Revising, and Final product. The instruments used were observation, interview, and questionnaire. The questionnaire administrated to 31 students as the participant, and interview for six students and English teacher. The data from the need analysis were analyzed in the descriptive analysis and the data from the experts as the validator analyzed in quantitative analysis. The result of the study was a course book of reading materials. The materials consist of two topics included recount text and narrative text. Based on the finding of the study, the persentage showed that the developed reading materials were 88.15% which were categorized as a valid materials. Meanwhile, the average for validation instruments were 4.41 which were categorized as relevant materials.
