Abstract
The study deals with Deixis in Ariana Grande‟s Dangerous Woman Album. The objectives of the study were to analyze types of deixis and to find out the most dominant type of deixis in Ariana Grande‟s Dangerous Woman Album. This research was conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The data of this research were taken from Ariana Grande‟s song lyrics in the Dangerous Woman album and 15 titles songs lyrics as the samples. The findings showed that there are five types of deixis found in Ariana Grande in the „Dangerous Woman‟ album, namely Person deixis with 1081 occurrences (57.9%), Spatial deixis with 142 occurrences (7.6%), Temporal deixis with 169 occurrences (9%), Discourse deixis with 302 occurrences (16.1%), Social deixis with 171 occurrences (9.1%). The song lyrics of Ariana Grande use Person deixis as the dominant type. The deictic “I” is dominantly used in Ariana Grande‟s song lyrics. “I” refers to Ariana Grande as the singer, which means Ariana Grande wants to express her feelings to the listener by her songs.
