Abstract

The objectives of this study were to investigate whether ReciprocalQuestioning (Re-Quest), Scaffolding and Mind Mapping Strategies Significantly affected on students mastery in reading comprehension and to examine which one of these strategies most significantly affect.The population of this study was the student of State Institute of Islamic Studies North Sumatra and 90 students who were studying at the first semester of English educational program were taken as the sample through cluster random sampling.The experiments were conducted in three groups,the first group was taught with Reciprocal Questioning, the second group was taught with Scaffolding and the third group used Mind Mapping .The reading comprehension test was taken from the test of English as foreign Language (TOEFL 2003).This test was registered trade mark of educational testing serve. The test function was to measure the students reading comprehension. The result showed that Reciprocal Questioning, Scaffolding and Mind Mapping Strategies significantly affected on students mastery in reading comprehension. The data collected were analyzed by one way ANOVA (Analysis of Variance).The findings indicated the significant F ca„„n,„d was greater than F table 9,21 > 4,79. Reciprocal Questioning Strategy was the most significantly affect. It can be seen from the Newman — Keuls formula that the mean and the smallest significance stretch of Reciprocal Questioning was the greater than other strategy13,3 > 6,23
