Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah melalui penerapan pendekatan matematika realistik dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Student Teams Archievement Division (STAD) dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa pada materi operasi aljabar pada kelas VIII-5 SMP Negeri 37 Medan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah 36 siswa kelas VIII-5 SMP Negeri 37 Medan dan objek penelitian ini adalah kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa pada materi Operasi aljabar di kelas VIII-5 SMP Negeri 37 Medan Tahun Ajaran 2017/2018. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang terdiri atas 2 siklus, masing-masing terdiri dari 2 kali pertemuan. Sebelum memberikan tindakan, terlebih dahulu diberikan tes diagnostik dan setiap akhir siklus diberikan tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah. Dari hasil analisis data tes diagnostik diperoleh banyaknya siswa yang mencapai ketuntasan belajar dari tes diagnostik yaitu 18 dari 36 siswa atau 50% dengan rata-rata kelas 57.85. Hasil analisis data pada siklus I setelah menerapkan pendekatan matematika realistik dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD menunjukkan banyaknya siswa yang mencapai ketuntasan belajar adalah 24 dari 36 siswa atau 66.67% dengan rata-rata kelas 69.31. Hasil analisis data akhir siklus II dengan pembelajaran yang sama diperoleh banyaknya siswa mencapai ketuntasan belajar yaitu 31 dari 36 siswa atau 86.11% dengan rata-rata kelas 77.92. Ini berarti terjadi peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa dari siklus I hingga siklus II. Berdasarkan kriteria ketuntasan klasikal maka pembelajaran ini telah mencapai target ketuntasan klasikal. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan pendekatan matematika realistik dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD di kelas VII SMP Negeri 37 Medan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa.
