Abstract

This study deals with the difficulties in writing recount text for second grade of junior high school to analyze the difficulties of students in writing recount text.. The objectives of the study are to know the difficulties that are faced by students in writing recount text and to find out a dominant difficulty by students in writing recount text. Study was conducted by descriptive method with qualitative approach. The data of this research were the difficulties made by the students of SMP NEGERI 3 Perbaungan which consist of 40 students in writing recount text. The result of the analysis showed that: (1). there were 40 students faced difficulties In using past tense occurred 90 cases or 80, 36% from all cases, In using sequence marker occurred 14 cases or 12, 5% from all cases, and the last In using pronoun occurred 8 cases or 7, 14% from all cases. (2).The dominant types of difficulties made by 40 students were in using past tense (90 cases) or (80, 36%).
