Abstract

This experimental research aims to know effect of formaldehyde into (i) the rats body weight, (ii) the rats ovary weight by given the ethanolic extract of buasbuas (Premna pubescens. Blume) /EEP. This experimental research with non factorial Complete Random Design (RAL) involved 24 white female rats (Rattus norvegicus) strain Wistar that divided into 4 groups: (i) control (without given formaldehyde and ethanolic extract of buasbuas), (ii) formaldehyde 125mg/kgbw, (iii) formaldehyde 125mg/kgbw + EEP 250 mg/kgbw, (iv) EEP 250 mg/kgbw. The treatment of (ii), (iii) and (iv) given for 28 days using sonde needle and the treatment of (iii) given formalin for 28 days and then given EEP for 28 days using sonde needle. The measurement of body weight coducted every 4 days and the end of research before the rats were dissected, the ovary weight taken after the rats were dissected and data were analysed using chart, one way ANOVA then continued with LSD test. The result show that formaldeyde can increase body weight no significant and formaldeyde can decrease ovary weight significant.
