Abstract

Salah satu masalah inti dalam pembelajaran pada pendidikan formal (sekolah) saat ini masih rendahnya daya serap peserta didik. Guru masih menggunakan metode pembelajaran yang berpusat pada guru (teacher center) yang dominasi dengan metode konvensional sehingga membuat siswa tidak aktif, tidak memiliki keberanian untuk mengajukan pendapat dan kondisi belajar yang membosankan. Atas dasar itulah peneliti melakukan penelitian ini. Adapun Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penerapan pendekatan konstruktivisme dengan Metode Brainstorming terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar siswa dan aktivitas belajar kimia siswa serta untuk mengetahui korelasi aktivitas belajar dengan peningkatan hasil belajar siswa. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas X-IPA SMA Negeri 17 Medan yang terdiri dari 5 kelas sebanyak 200 orang siswa. Sampel penelitian adalah dua kelas yang diambil dengan teknik purposive random yaitu kelas eksperimen yang dibelajarkan dengan pendekatan konstruktivisme dan metode brainstorming dan kelas kontrol yang dibelajarkan dengan pendekatan konstruktivisme dan metode konvensional. Instrumen peneltian adalah tes dan non tes. Tes objektif pilihan berganda berjumlah 20 soal yang telah dinyatakan valid dan reliabel. Instrumen nontes adalah lembar observasi aktivitas belajar siswa. Data yang diperoleh dengan analisis uji t satu pihak dan uji korelasi. Hasil uji hipotesis I menunjukkan thitung > ttabel ( 6,54 > 1,99) berarti H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima yaitu peningkatan hasil belajar kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi sebesar 49,60 dibanding kelas kontrol sebesar 32%. Hasil Uji Hipotesis II menunjukkan thitung > ttabel (8,54 > 1,667) yang berarti H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima yaitu aktivitas belajar siswa kelas eksperimen sebesar 90,7 lebih tinggi dibanding kelas kontrol sebesar 81,63. Hasil uji Hipotesis III menunjukkan bahwa rhitung > rtabel (0,88 > 0,312) berarti H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima yaitu ada korelasi aktivitas belajar dengan peningkatan hasil belajar dengan r = 0,88. Dari hasil analisis data diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa aktivitas belajar dan peningkatan hasil belajar siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan pendekatan konstruktivisme menggunakan metode brainstorming lebih tinggi dibanding yang dibelajarkan dengan pendekatan konstruktivisme dengan metode konvensional serta ada korelasi antara aktivitas belajar dengan peningkatan hasil belajar.
