Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the student's achievement in teaching of solubility and solubility product by using chemistry module with critical thinking development. The population in this study was all students in RSBI SMA Negeri 1 Berastagi grade XI in Karo District. The sample of this study is two classes which is categorized as one experiment class and one serve as control class. The instrument of research is standardized by using validity and reliability test. Based on analysis obtained the propriety level of module is 97.5%. There is a significant effect in learning outcomes of students who have learning using chemistry module with critical thinking development. The average value of initial test (pre-test) in experimental class is (30.38 ± 7.46), while in control class is (36.46 ± 7.59); both of them have low achievement. While average value of post-test in experimental class is (83.16 ± 6.23), while in control class is (74.65 ± 6.46). The students' achievement from normalized gain which taught using module with critical thinking development is 76.1% whereas in control class (with general module) is 58.4%. The statistic analysis shows difference significant with tcount (8.85) > t table (1.6588). There is positive correlation between the average value of critical thinking development toward the increasing of student's achievement (gain), with r = 0.277. So, it can be concluded that the students' achievement which taught by using chemistry module with critical thinking development is higher than students' achievement which taught by using chemistry module without critical thinking development.
