Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penerapan model pembelajaran Problem Based-Learning dapat meningkatkan aktivitas dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika pada materi pokok persamaan linier dua variabel siswa SMP Pahlawan Nasional Medan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas. Objek penelitian ini adalah penerapan model pembelajaran Problem Based-Learning untuk meningkatkan aktivitas dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa pada materi pokok persamaan linier dua variabel. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa Kelas VIII-7 SMP Pahlawan Nasional Medan. Sebelum tindakan dilakukan terlebih dahulu diberikan tes awal untuk mengetahui kemampuan awal dan kesulitan awal siswa. Dari hasil tes awal yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa siswa kelas VIII-7 diperoleh 30 orang siswa (71,42%) yang mencapai nilai persentase <65% dan 12 orang siswa (28,68%) yang mencapai nilai persentase ≥65% (syarat ketuntasan belajar TKPM) dengan rata – rata nilai pada tes awal 37,14. Setelah pemberian tindakan pengajaran melalui model pembelajaran Problem Based-Learning, nilai TKPM I di kelas VIII-7 dari 42 orang siswa, jumlah siswa yang masuk dalam kategori aktif dan sangat aktif ada 14 orang dan untuk kemampuan pemecahan masalah terdapat 32 orang siswa (76,19%) telah mencapai tingkat ketuntasan belajar klasikal (yang mendapat nilai persentase ≥65%) sedangkan 10 orang siswa (23,80%) belum mencapai tingkat ketuntasan belajar TKPM dan nilai rata – rata kelasnya mencapai 73,09. Sedangkan setelah dilakukannya perbaikan dari siklus I pada siklus II di kelas VIII-7, dapat dilihat bahwa aktivitas siswa yang masuk dalam kategorii baik dan sangat baik meningkat menjadi 30 siswa (71,43%) dan nilai TKPM siklus II dari 42 orang siswa siswa, terdapat 37 orang siswa (88,09%) telah mencapai tingkat ketuntasan belajar klasikal (yang mendapat nilai persentase ≥65%) dan 5 orang siswa (11,90%) belum mencapai tingkat ketuntasan belajar TKPM dan nilai rata – rata kelasnya mencapai 77,93. Dengan kata lain, nilai dari ketuntasan klasikal tes hasil TKPM I di kelas VIII-7 mengalami peningkatan pada siklus II. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini diperoleh bahwa pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Problem Based-Learning di SMP Pahlawan Nasional Medan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa pada materi persamaan linier dua variabel.
