Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) hubungan supervisi akademik kepala sekolah dengan kompetensi profesional guru SD Negeri di Kecamatan Kabanjahe, (2) hubungan motivasi kerja guru dengan kompetensi profesional guru SD Negeri di Kecamatan Kabanjahe, (3) hubungan antara supervisi akademik kepala sekolah dan motivasi kerja guru secara bersama-sama dengan kompetensi profesional guru SD Negeri di Kecamatan Kabanjahe.
Populasi penelitian ini berjumlah 182 orang, dengan menggunakan teknik proporsional random sampling, ukuran sampel sebanyak 125 orang didasarkan pada rumus Slovin. Sebelum melakukan penelitian terlebih dahulu dilakukan uji coba instrumen terhadap populasi di luar sampel yang berjumlah 30 guru, bertujuan untuk mengetahui validitas dan reliabilitas instrumen penelitian. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data ialah kuesioner skala Likert. Untuk menguji hipotesis digunakan teknik analisis korelasi dan regresi sederhana dan ganda, pada taraf signifikansi 0,05. Pengolahan data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan mengunakan program SPSS versi 15.
Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa: (1) ada hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara supervisi akademik kepala sekolah dengan kompetensi profesional guru SD Negeri di Kecamatan Kabanjahe, dengan koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,834; (2) ada hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara motivasi kerja guru dengan kompetensi profesional guru SD Negeri di Kecamatan Kabanjahe, dengan koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,408; (3) ada hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara supervisi akademik kepala sekolah dan motivasi kerja guru secara bersama-sama dengan kompetensi profesional guru SD Negeri di Kecamatan Kabanjahe, dengan koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,878 sehingga koefisien determinasinya diperoleh sebesar 70,00%. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan, bahwa supervisi akademik kepala sekolah dan motivasi kerja guru merupakan hal yang sangat penting diperhatikan para kepala sekolah, sehingga dapat meningkatkan kompetensi profesional guru SD Negeri di Kecamatan Kabanjahe Kabupaten Karo.
