Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of group guidance service with group discussion technique in improving students' concentration ability in learning. The subjects of the research were 10 people who were taken from 35 students of class X-3 which have a low concentration of learning, realizing that they have a problem on learning concentration as seen from the pre-test which have been conducted before treatment. The instrument used was a questionnaire to determine the level of students' concentration in learning that previously tested to determine the validity and reliability of the questionnaire. The instrument has been given before and after the implementation of group guidance service with group discussion technique. Data were analyzed by using Wilcoxon test. The result of a study showed that the implementation of group guidance service with group discussion techniques affect the concentration ability in learning of students class X-3 SMA Negeri 1 Pollung academic of 2015/2016. The result of hypotesis testing was Zcount = -2.8032, while Ztable = -1.96, with a = 0.05 and n = 10, it means that Ha is accepted where Zcount is lower than Ztable (Zcount < Ztable ). Based on the result above, it can be conclude that there is positive effect of group guidance service with group discussion technique in improving concentration ability in learning of students class X-3 SMA Negeri 1 Pollung academic of 2015/2016.
