Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the performance of mixing schools in assimilation process. The writer choose as the sample of which reprecented as mixing school in Medan, I.e. SMA Methodist, SMA Amir Hamzah, SMA Sultan Iskandar Muda, SMA Santo Thomas, and SMA Jenderal Sudirman. By examining the capability of assimilation process in those mixing schools we could see nether there are same effect or not to ward integration process of multietnic ragion in Medan.Are the agregation of the Chinese and native students could emerge the integrity in those mixing schools. It will eliminate the psychological gap among them naturally, so the dark story experienced by their parents in some social riot willhappen again to ward them. In this study the writer will review the performance os assimilation process in seven aspects, i.c. (1) aspect of culture (cultural value), (2) aspect of structural (imvolvement in social structure), (3) aspect of amalgamation (closed frienship), (4) aspect of identification (self estem), (5) aspect of attitude, (6) aspect of behavior, and (7) aspect of civics.
