Abstract

This study is focused on the types and syntactic categories of code mixing. This research was conducted by using descriptive qualitative design. The data is the transcript of jury and master of ceremony of Indonesian Idol utterances which is taken from the internet. The findings show that there are 133 utterances which contained the type of code mixing and all the types of code mixing are found. From the 133 utterances, contain of different syntactic categories of code mixing. There are 293 of total syntactic categories and all the syntactic categories in theory are found. The dominant type of code mixing is insertion and the dominant syntactic category of code mixing is noun. The findings are appropriate with Muysken and Haugen and Beardsmores theories.
