Abstract

This research deals with the second-year students’ inflectional morphemes errors in writing texts. This research uses a qualitative design in which the data are taken from the sentences of texts. The data are collected and described by using surface strategy taxonomy proposed by Dulay et al. The errors found are classified into causes of errors based on Erdogan’s model as a guideline. The researcher uses 180 texts of 60 students from three classes in SMA Negeri 1 Stabat as the source of data. The analysis found that there are three types of inflectional morphemes errors appeared; they are 46 errors of omission, 3 errors of addition and 8 errors of misformation in inflectional morphemes. Also, intralingual contributes 59.6% (34 cases) and interlingual 40.4% (23 cases) in causing errors appeared. So, the most dominant type of inflectional morphemes errors made by second-year students in writing texts is omission. Hopefully, the result of this research is useful for everyone who wants to study about inflectional morphemes errors.
