Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) menghasilkan bahan ajar berbasis masalah yang layak dan memenuhi syarat sebagai bahan ajar yang baik: (2) mengetahui keefektivan bahan ajar berbasis masalah yang dikembangkan pada materi substansi genetika. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan yang menggunakan model pengembangan produk Borg dan Gall yang dipadu dengan model desain pembelajaran Dick dan Carey. Metode penelitian terdiri dari dua tahapan, tahap I merupakan uji coba produk yang terdiri dari: (1) validasi ahli materi pembelajaran biologi, (2) validasi ahli rancangan pembelajaran, (3) uji coba guru biologi, (4) uji coba perorangan, (5) uji coba kelompok kecil, (6) uji coba kelompok terbatas; tahap II merupakan uji efektivitas produk dengan cara: (1) menguji normalitas data penelitian, (2) menguji homogenitas data penelitian, (3) menguji hipotesis penelitian dan (4) menghitung nilai efektivitas bahan ajar yang dikembangkan. Subjek uji coba terdiri dari 2 ahli materi pembelajaran biologi, dua ahli desain pembelajaran, tiga siswa untuk uji perorangan, sembilan siswa untuk uji coba kelompok kecil dan 39 orang siswa untuk uji coba kelompok terbatas. Data-data tentang kualitas produk pengembangan ini dikumpulkan dengan angket dan dianalisis dengan teknik analisis deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan; (1) hasil validasi ahli materi pembelajaran biologi berada pada kategori sangat layak (89%), (2) hasil validasi ahli rancangan pembelajaran berada pada kategori sangat layak (94%), (3) uji coba guru biologi berada pada kategori sangat layak (89%), (4) uji coba perorangan berada pada kategori layak (80%), (5) uji coba kelompok kecil berada pada kategori layak (79%), dan (6) uji coba kelompok terbatas berada pada kategori layak (83%). Produk akhir dari pengembangan bahan ajar ini dilanjutkan dengan uji keefektivan produk. Penelitian dilakukan pada siswa kelas XII IPA SMA Negeri 1 Perbaungan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuasi eksperimen. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 82 orang siswa yang terdiri dari 43 orang siswa sebagai kelas eksperimen yang diajar dengan menggunakan bahan ajar biologi berbasis masalah dan 39 orang siswa lain sebagai kelas kontrol yang menggunakan bahan ajar konvensional sebagaimana yang berlangsung selama ini dalam proses pembelajaran. Hasil pengujian hipotesis membuktikan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara hasil belajar siswa yang diajarkan dengan menggunkan bahan ajar berbasis masalah dengan hasil belajar siswa yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan bahan ajar konvensional. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan hasil pengolahan data diperoleh thitung = 15,65 > ttabel = 1,67, denngan dk = (n1+n2-2) pada taraf signifikansi =0,05. Berdasarkan hasil data maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran menggunakan bahan ajar berbasis masalah lebih efektif (77,36%) dibanding dengan pembelajaran menggunakan bahan ajar konvensional (53,07%).
