Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui lebih jelas pengaruh strategi reading guide dan strategi inkuiri dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca cerpen. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X SMA Swasta Al-Hidayah Medan dengan jumlah 125 siswa. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 40 siswa yang diambil secara homogen dengan random control-group design. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk menjaring data adalah penugasan.Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen, tepatnya Quasi eksperimen. Pengujian hipotesis dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji “t” dengan rumus (M_y-M_x)/&#12310;SE&#12311;_(Mx-My) Berdasarkan pengolahan data diperoleh hasil post-test kelas ekperimen dan kelas kontrol. Adapun nilai rata-rata kelas eksperimen dengan strategi pembelajaran strategi reading guide = 75,25, standar deviasi=7,59, dan termasuk pada kategori sangat baik sebanyak 20%, kategori baik sebanyak 50% dan kategori cukup sebanyak 20%, katagori sangat kurang 0% Sedangkan nilai rata-rata kelas kontrol dengan strategi inkuiri=70,625 standar deviasi=7,08 dan termasuk pada kategori sangat baik sebanyak 0%, kategori baik sebanyak 20%, kategori cukup sebanyak 50% dan kategori kurang 5% katagori sangat kurang 0%. Dari hasil uji data post-test diketahui keduanya berdistribusi normal. Berdasarkan uji homogenitas diperoleh bahwa sampel penelitian ini berasal dari populasi yang homogen. Setelah uji normalitas dan homogenitas, diperoleh t0 sebesar 17,78 kemudian dikonsultasikan dengan ttabel pada taraf signifikan 5% dan 1% dk=(N1+N2)-2=76. Dari dk=40 pada taraf signifikan 5% harga ttabel sebesar=1,99 dan pada taraf signifikan 1% harga ttabel sebesar 2,64. Oleh karena to yang diperoleh lebih besar dari ttabel, yaitu 1,99<17,78>2,64 maka hipotesis nihil (H0) ditolak dan hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian hipotesis diperoleh bukti yang empirik bahwa prestasi belajar siswa yang diterapkan dengan strategi reading guide dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca cerpen lebih efektif dibandingkan strategi inkuiri di SMA Al-Hidayah Medan.
